Knitwear - #2
I started my topic on knitwear&fashion a few days ago.
Yesterday I met one of the 4 designers signing the label
Sartoria Vico
and I suddendly remembered that I really wanted to mention and post the brand here.
They are great in design concepts and their knitwear is excellent for quality and details.
One of the aspects that really captures me is their approach:
very close to product/industrial design as for the definition.
"The role of an Industrial Designer is to create and execute design solutions towards problems of form, usability, user ergonomics, engineering"
Function melts with form.
And they also provide instructions!
Check out the website, they also sell online:

SNOW TIME - WOOL TIME
Surprise: snow in Milan this morning!!
I-L-O-V-E-D-I-T!!
I-L-O-V-E-D-I-T!!
Since Winter has knocked earlier on our doors this season I wanted to celebrate it
posting some awesome creations by wool/knit designers that I really like.
In the last few weeks I've been reading and watching to amazing projects around the mentioned subjects and found stunning collections surfing through my favourite blogs.
I have to mention Sandra Backlund who I consider an artist and a genius for her totally innovative approach and soft textured armors.
And Cooperative Designs for the gorgeus colors, patterns and interpretation of folk themes.

I also desire to mention a very talented Italian designer based in Milano:
Paolo Errico
He has got a peculiar ability to mix very precious materials and textures in neutral or vibrant block colors and in super feminine, fluid silhouettes based on elementary geometrical shapes such as square and circle.
He is definitely one to watch and follow!

RICHARD NICOLL
What shall I write here?
Another Central Saint Martin's little wonder
A perfect color palette
...
Thanks for this beauty.
That's all I can say, I guess.

The Sartorialist by Daniele Mari
I am finally able to post some very nice pics of Scott Schuman taken during Milano Fashion Week in September 2008.
Sakura Koshimizu
From the designer's blog/portfolio:
20071201 Waveform Series, 2007
Waveform Series is the laser-cut shapes of the waveform of the sound in sound editing software environment. I used some human sound such as yawn, atchoum, giggle, wow, and the sound of church bell.

Mattijs van Bergen
One more talented Saint Martins graduate!
He interned with Victor & Rolf and now he is leading his own brand.
Mattijs van Bergen has got a great style and his own way to put a soft touch in strong shapes and fabrics.
Needless to say I love the FW 2008 Collection with all of its plissé pleats and the amazing trench and little belts and colors and shine and the sequined jacket...

threeASFOUR
I've first discovered the originally named "ASFOUR" (Ange, Adi, Gabi, Kai) in 2002.
They were talked and featured almost everywere at that time and came to Milan for an Exibition/Installation inside MOMI Arte during Fashion Week.
I really, truly loved them approaching fashion as an art collective and injecting some great creativity into their project.
6 years later they have put together lots of brilliant projects and ideas (some great Womenswear collections, a collaboration with Kate Spade, a fragrance developed with and for Colette and several impressive shows/exibitons) and changed their name after Kai left the group.
Today they are threeASFOUR.
Their Spring Summer 2009 collection completely captured me with all of its patterns, colors, layerings, shell details, perfectly tailored pieces and much more.
It is an incredible result of many years together for the New York based trio and I really think they sublimed all of their peculiar and favourite themes.

MFP - Maria Francesca Pepe
I've been watching her innovative and edgy accessories at some Trade Shows and later in a few shops and cool Magazines.
I'm really impressed by her creativity, expressed in very pure, conceptual and clean shapes and materials.
I love the signature "Tube" necklace and I love it transformed into a print on fabric in her first complete Womenswear SS09 Collection named
ART-BRUT09.
